Clifford Barnett
Since 2009, I have proudly called Wilmington my home, and since 2018, I’ve had the honor of serving on the Wilmington City Council and as Mayor Pro-Tem. I’ve helped guide our city through major disasters, public health challenges, and rapid growth. At every step, we worked to keep families safe and ensure every resident has a voice in shaping our future.
My leadership is rooted in faith, family, and service. For over forty years, as a pastor and community leader, I have developed nationally recognized programs and simply shown up to support families and the community. From the “Grandparents as Parents” program and a COVID-19 shot clinic at Warner Temple to waking up every day at 6:30 am to greet students at DC Virgo as they arrive off the buses, my life’s work centers on creating opportunities for people to feel safe and thrive.
My ongoing roles include chairing the Southeastern Dropout Prevention Coalition at UNCW, co-chairing the New Hanover County Resilience Task Force, and hosting the annual “First 2,000 Days Summit” on early childhood development. These commitments reflect my dedication to bringing people together across differences to solve important problems.
On City Council, I have consistently advocated for affordable housing, public safety, and civic inclusion. I continue to push for momentum on workforce housing, support comprehensive strategies to address homelessness, and build partnerships with governmental partners, community organizations, nonprofits, and local businesses.
My family and I feel blessed to call this vibrant and beautiful city our home. With your support, we can keep building Wilmington into a place where every resident, family, and business has the chance to succeed. I would appreciate your vote so we can keep Moving Wilmington Forward Together!
